The first gas lamps on the streets in Bydgoszcz lit up in the fall of 1860. Over the years, the use of gas in industrial plants and households became widespread. The Bydgoszcz Gas Works even published a newspaper from July 1910, presenting technical gas news, answers to readers’ letters or advice. The former Municipal Gas Works ceased producing coal gas in 1973. In the 1990s it underwent adaptation and modernization, focusing on the distribution and sale of natural gas. Today, in the Chamber of Tradition, we can learn about the rich history of Bydgoszcz’s gas industry.
