The unique Lemara barge, moored at the Brda waterfront, is a reminder of Bydgoszcz’s water history. For centuries, river commerce was an integral part of the development of the city on the Brda River. The barge was built at the Lloyd Bydgoszcz Shipyard in 1937, and took its name from the first syllables of the names of the first owner’s parents, Adolf Schmidt: Leon and Maria. About the later fate and turbulent storms that the barge encountered on its way , you will learn by visiting the ship’s vessel and listening to the stories of its captain! Did you know that Lemara was saved from being scrapped in 2009? Since 2014, the barge has been taken care of by the Municipal Cultural Center in Bydgoszcz, and the Museum of Ships’ Legends has been arranged inside!
